Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 July 2026
peakit collects no personal data and runs no analytics. It has no user accounts and no server backend of its own. Everything you create in the app — waypoints, routes, downloaded regions, mesh peer records, chat history — stays on your device.
Location
peakit requests your location when in use to:
- Center the map on where you are
- Show the distance and bearing to peers on the mesh
- Share your position on the mesh (only when you explicitly tap "Share my position")
Location data is used on-device. When you request a weather forecast or trail search for a specific point, the coordinates of that point are sent to the third-party providers listed below to fetch the requested data. No user identifier accompanies the request.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is used exclusively to communicate with a Meshtastic node you pair with. peakit does not scan for or track other Bluetooth devices.
Purchases
peakit Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. peakit verifies your entitlement locally on this device. No purchase data is shared with peakit.
Third-party services
When you use the features that need them, peakit contacts the following services with anonymous requests (typically just geographic coordinates or a bounding box):
- Open-Meteo — weather forecasts
- MapTiler — map tiles and terrain elevation
- OpenStreetMap contributors via Overpass and Nominatim — trails and place search
- Waymarked Trails — hiking network overlay
- Open Route Service — pin-to-pin trail routing
- avalanche.report (EAWS) — public avalanche bulletins
Each provider is subject to its own privacy policy. peakit does not add tracking identifiers to these requests.
Analytics and tracking
None. peakit contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK, and does not use the App Store's App Tracking Transparency framework because it does no tracking.
Children
peakit is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for material changes, note them in the release notes of the next app update.
